We all know it’s cheaper and more healthful to cook and eat at home. Cooking is also a beautiful way to show care for ourselves and others.
But lately I find it to be a huge drag.
Thus, I’ve made it my mission to find quick, easy and delicious meals that can be a means for eating well without feeling overwhelmed. Today’s recipes are from Natalie Wells, whose Instagram feed (@natalielora) has been making me drool for years.
Despite the way Wells’ photos look, she’s not a professional photographer or chef. She does, however, love to spend entire days cooking.
“My mom never cooked for us growing up,” Wells says. “She was a nurse who worked 12-hour shifts and did the best she could to spend time with us. I grew up eating processed things from a box and found my love of cooking when I got married and moved to Houston.”
Houston’s array of cultural influences and abundance of beautiful ingredients (she loves the farmer’s market) inspire Wells, she says. And she inspires me.
I asked her to dig through her collection to find her favorite recipes that take less than all day, and here are the mouthwatering dishes she turned up. Budget 20-30 minutes.
