A wonderful way to start the new year is to reflect on your values.
When you know your values, you know what matters to YOU. Not what others or culture dictates is important, just you.
You get a sense of the direction you need to go to honor and care for your own needs.
This is a primer for feeling your best and showing up most powerfully for others.
To help you clarify your 4-5 core values, here are a few questions that my friend, health and wellness coach Lee Moffett, suggests journaling about:
- What milestones are you most proud of?
- What are your greatest gifts or strengths?
- What are the most important values you want to pass on?
- Who do you respect most in your life, and what are their values?
- What do you like to talk about, and what do you do in your free time?
After answering these questions, Moffett suggests looking back at the page to pull out reoccurring themes and keywords. From there, you can start to narrow down your handful of core values.
I did this again recently, and it was really helpful. I came up with four main values that feel like guideposts heading into the New Year. One of them was connection.
Please connect with me by sharing one of your values in the comments below!
Happy happy New Year 🙂
