I wish I could say that I wake up every morning feeling bubbly and ready to go. That’s not the case.
Many mornings I feel a bit overwhelmed, anxious, or just tired. While I’m working on some adjustments so this isn’t the case, here are some things that help in the meantime. I hope they serve you too.
First, mindfulness. I notice those feelings, take a deep breath, and feel into and relax my body. I don’t try to push those feelings away. I accept them without collapsing into them, and they tend to naturally fade away.
There are other things that help in this process too.
- I make my first conscious thoughts of the day things that I’m grateful for. I believe the percentage of time we spend feeling grateful is the percentage of time we will be happy.
- Lemon water. Before I put anything into my body, I have a mug of warm water with the juice of about half of a lemon squeezed in. This is awakening, alkalizing, cleansing, hydrating, and refreshing. Drink it without food. It jump-starts metabolism and your digestive system going. I’m not anti-coffee, I just say have this first.
